The Moriches Bay Project team and Greg Rivera from Cornell Cooperative Extension waited for the tide to be just right on a beautiful sunny morning recently to take a boat out to visit two of our oyster beds and the results were… great!
We saw quite a bit of growth on our oysters! Some oysters had grown to 3″ large and we were so happy to see the survival rate over the winter was good! We measured oysters from each site to record their growth over the years. In addition, we took approximately 6,000 of the oysters we grew last year in our farms and put them into these beds. We will be posting more information on our website.
